Welcome to Soroptimist International of Yorkshire
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Soroptimist (Best of Sisters) international Yorkshire Website.
I am honoured to be President of this prestigious Region of Yorkshire. We work extensively and tirelessly to voluntarily promote the education, enablement and empowerment of vulnerable women and children, locally, nationally and internationally. This is the centre of our being yet fun and friendship go hand in hand! Meeting dear friends at our annual conference or convention is always a special joy with the memories of where we went and what we did!
In November the Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland (those parts of the world atlas that were coloured pink!) Conference met in Malta for an amazing few days, epitomising the friendship of members, hearing of amazing Club projects and gleaning vital information from excellent speakers. You are welcome to browse for details.
My name is Jennie Levick. 23 years ago I invited myself to join Soroptimist International Hallamshire (Sheffield) : Hallamshire being the ancient name for Sheffield! I especially enjoy meeting Soroptimists around the world wherever I might be visiting and am shown their projects, joining in whenever possible.
However, should you ask me why I’m a Soroptimist, I am a member because of the great regard our views are held at the highest level of consultation amongst NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) and the United Nations; something that I would never achieve as an individual.
My theme for the coming year is H.E.L.P. – Healthcare Education for Living Positively in Yorkshire. If you have a burning desire to contribute please find your local Club and make it happen.
