Members have been exceptionally busy over the last few weeks making bunting and posters in preparation for the United Nations 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence. The campaign runs from the 25th November to 10th December and uses the colour Orange, a bright and optimistic colour, to represent a world free from gender – based violence.
The Rosemount area in Aberdeen will be turning orange with shops and businesses creating orange window displays to highlight this widespread human rights violation. Carole Baxter of the Beechgrove Garden will be picking her favourite display on December 1st and the winner will receive £200 for the charity of their choice.
There will be an Orange Cafe at Bonnymuir Community Garden from 10.30 on 25th November and Aberdeen City Council will also be lighting Marischal College Orange. Our members will also be joining the Reclaim the Night March that evening.
Look out for Rosemount turning Orange and please join us in supporting the challenge of ending violence against women and girls.
