Members enjoyed a lovely meal, friendship and fun at the annual Christmas Party at Hampsfell House Hotel. Members were delighted to bestow Honorary Membership on 3 long standing Club members.
Members marked International Day for the Abolition of Slavery ( Dec 2nd ) with a display on Modern Day Slavery in Grange Libraru. Club members also did a quiz on the subject at the Club meeting.
Members were delighted to welcome Regional President Alison Driver to their meeting. Alison also kindly inducted new member Tricia Calway.
Members appealed for bedding and other items for the Women’s Centre and were delighted by the response of Grange residents. A massive amount of really good quality bedding, clothes, toys and toiletries were collected in a 2 hour period and six carloads are to be delivered to the centre.
Members ran a stall at the Christmas Fayre in the Victoria Hall and raised £173 sellinng Christmas gifts and treats including 5 dozen mince pies! The money is for Club Charities.
8 members met to write letters as part of the Amnesty International Write for Rights campaign. 39 letters went to heads of State, Police Chiefs and CEOs requesting action on Human Rights violations and 57 cards and letters of support were sent to victims of Human Rights abuses.
Club members joined with members from the North west region to raise awareness about Modern Day slavery by marching through Preston town centre. Members also visited the box depicting the conditions and experiences of Trafficked people. Club members are mounting a display in Grange library from 3-7 December to raise awareness about Trafficking and Slavery.
Several club members mounted a display about women in WW1 as part of the WW1 Commemoration in Grange.
Club member Rosemary was installed as President Elect for North West England and the Isle of Man
