Charity – the nurse we are sponsoring in Malawi

The following is an extract of an introduction to Charity the nurse we are sponsoring in Malawi.

I come from Nyani Village and am the second born in a family of six: 3 boys and 3 girls. Both my parents passed away in 2000.  I am a widow with 2 boys and a girl and all of them are still at school.  I possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education obtained in 1984 at Likuni Girls Secondary school and re-sat in 2010 to improve my grades.  I am a holder of the following professional certificates: Nursing and Midwifery and Psychiatry.  My work experience is as follows: I have worked at Nkhoma Mission Hospital 1988-1991 and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital 1993 to date.  I have been in the paediatric department for the past 14 years mostly dealing with abused children and recently the One Stop Centre.  I have a passion for working with vulnerable children.

I am presently pursuing a Batchelor’s Degree in Nursing and Midwifery for 4 years.  My goal is following graduation to go back to the Paediatric department and to continue to practice and maybe even pursue a masters degree.

I do not take for granted the support I am receiving and thank very much those who are making this possible.  I promise to work very hard and use this opportunity to the best of my ability.

We are pleased to report we have now raised the money to support Charity with her fees for her Batchelor’s degree.
