Christmas Pamper Bag Project Under Way

Christmas Pamper Bag Project Under Way

Our annual collection of items for our 2025 Christmas Pamper Bag Project is underway! Last year we completed 97 bags which we donated to a number of refuges locally. Domestic violence disproportionately affects women. The provision of Christmas Pamper bags to the women living in refuges is one of the projects we decided to undertake to support women recovering from their experience of fleeing domestic violence & to let them know that there are people who care about them. If you would like to help and donate item/s please see the attached link of suggested items and where you can drop them off 2025 Pamper Bag List.

Volunteering – Marshalling for Sutton Coldfield Annual Fun Run

Volunteering – Marshalling for Sutton Coldfield Annual Fun Run

The 1st June 2025 saw the Annual 10k Sutton Coldfield fun run take place.   Once again Ellie was contacted by the organisers to see if she could russell up some volunteers.  With 9 SI Lichfield & District ladies volunteering who brought along along family and friends to assist, we had group of 18 (incl 2 soroptimen), who gave up their Sunday morning to marshal. Once the important H&S brief was given we were sent on our way to our allocated spots, where we would ensure the runners were kept safe from residents attempting to leave their homes during the run, as well as the most important part of encouraging them on their way! What a fantastic day we had, the sun shone, the residents came out in full force to support and the runners “mostly” had a smile on their face.   Another successful event ~

Celebrating 27 years as a Club       This year we opted to hold a lunch at Darnford Golf Club where 19 Club members were joined by family, friends and sister club members for a wonderful 3 course lunch and drinks.  With glorious weather old friendships resumed along with new friendships forged.       Our speaker was Julia Doherty who gave an inspiration talk on her personal journey which took her on an adventure ~ walking the Pacific Coast Highway and her reasons into why she is raising money for the charity Give Us a Shout  Give us a Shout . As a club we decided to hold a raffle to raise money for the Give us A Shout charity and we were delighted to raise an amazing £285.  Thank  you  to  everyone who  bought  a ticket.

Plant-based food is a healthy option but it’s also delicious too….Nothing bland or boring here! You can join the Veggie Challenge or just build in more plant based meals to your regular diet. Here’s a few ideas taken from our Club Cook Book (which is work in progress) to take you beyond National Vegetarian Week:

On 11th March 2019 we were lucky to be visited by Gillie Nicholls, founder of the charity Les Amis Burkina Faso. Les Amis is a charity which particularly supports women.  The lives of women in Africa can be extremely difficult, but particularly so for those who have given birth to a disabled child.  This can often lead to the woman and her disabled child being abandoned.
