Every two years soroptimists in the UK are invited to attend a study day which features topics which are central to the objectives that we are committed to support.
This year the study day will be held in the Aztec Hotel Bristol on 9th July 2016. The theme for this year is:
ACHIEVING CHANGE-BUILDING ON SUCCESS
A Day of Programme for Action
The programme is based on UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls) through our three current areas of focus, Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery, Female Genital Mutilation and Reducing Women’s Imprisonment. With keynote speakers and two breakout sessions per focus area, the day promises to be informative and thought provoking.
Speakers:
- Kevin Hyland OBE, The Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner for the UK
- Juliet Lyon CBE, Director of the Prison Reform Trust.
- Lucy Russell, Leader of Plan’s UK Girls’ Rights Campaign
Whilst eating lunch or drinking coffee, the day will give delegates opportunities to network, enjoy one another’s company and exchange ideas.
