Northwest England and the Isle of Man Regional Meeting – 15 June 2019 Grange and Lancaster Soroptimists make bracelets for Grange midwife Cath Holland who is pivotal in eradicating FGM ( Female Genital Mutilation) in Pokot in Kenya. Cath founded a charity Beyond FGM https://www.beyondfgm.com/  and works with others to prevent FGM. Cath spoke about FGM and her work at the NW Soroptimists Regional meeting and was presented with bracelets by Grange and Lancaster Soroptimists. The bracelets are given to the girls at their Rite of Passage ceremony Cath talked about visiting Kenya on VSO when she was teaching midwives and encountered many problems in her clinical work on the labour ward with women and girls suffering from complications related to FGM. 2019 Regional Conference Northwest Soroptimists have been #BreakingBarriers Saturday 11 May 2019 saw around 100 delegates from across the North West and surrounding regions attend our latest Regional Conference, held at the Preston Marriott, with the theme of #BreakingBarriers. Fylde Soroptimists' Fancy Dress Charity Dog Walk - 14 April 2019 Fylde Soroptimists are continuing with their fundraising activities to both raise their profile and also raise much-needed funds for the local charities they support – Fylde Coast Women’s Aid and Fylde Food Bank being the main ones this year. On Sunday, Fylde Soroptimists, friends and supporters braved cold winds on Lytham Green to take part in a fun dog walk.  All dogs were invited to dress up with a super doggy hamper prize for the best dressed – and doggy treats for all!  Following the walk, there was chance to grab refreshments at the EcoPod at Park View and enjoy freshly baked cakes from one of the stalls hosted by Soroptimists to help raise monies.  There was also a tombola stall with hundreds of prizes, a huge raffle of over 30 prizes, a book

As you can probably guess – SEO is not a word which has featured highly in the work of Soroptimists around our region, up till now that is! Today a group of us attended a workshop run by Rachel Weinhold, who happens to be a member of Rossendale Soroptimists but more importantly for today the MD of GrowTraffic Ltd. Rachel is passionate about her chosen topic of Search Engine Optimisation (or Search Engine Optimization if you want to use a different spell checker) and being a Soroptimist herself means that she also relates the work to the things we do and the systems we use. So we had some great discussions on what SEO and Content Marketing are, and just what a blog really is (which wasn’t obvious when the system we use doesn’t actually mention the word Blog at all!)
