Fraser Munro, Governor of HMP Perth, gave a talk entitled Unlocking Potential, Transforming Lives, covering his role as Governor of HMP Perth and sharing his experience of over 30 years working in the prison service. We were given a snapshot of the current population in HMP Perth and the changing needs of that population. The emphasis is on building partnerships to support health, education and post-release services. We were also updated on the development of the Women’s National Facility at Cornton Vale and there was discussion on how the Prison Reform Trust work, that we and all the UK SIGBI clubs were involved in, had changed the strategy for dealing with women offenders. Questions were followed by a vote of thanks from President Les.
