In the first year a total of 470 bras were collected, in 2019, the total collected rose to 1120 and in 2020, despite the restrictions of lockdown, a magnificent 1251 were gathered. Pre pandemic the bras were received from public collection points at Five Rivers Leisure Centre, via local choirs, from friends and family, from village community centres and other places of gathering in and around Salisbury. During lockdown Club members put information posters in their home windows so passing pedestrians could donate their preloved bras through windows, on doorsteps, in porches and even leave them in gardens.
Each year the Club has organised ‘Bras and Bubbly’ events in the summer, where the donated bras are sorted and packed ready for dispatch to the charity. In 2020, it was a slightly smaller more low key event, and all socially distanced.
With a total of 2841 bras now donated by the Club, members will collect bras again in 2021 and they looking to break their annual collection record – again!
