First delivery of Twiddlemuffs!

Members, friends, family and work colleagues have been busy knitting, sewing and stitching for some weeks now on our colourful twiddlemuffs. These are items with interesting tactile attachments that people living with dementia find soothing and comforting when their fingers are restless. The first delivery of twiddlemuffs was 24 items, and more are ready to be handed over next month. The parcel was gratefully received by the Order of St John Trust staff at Bemerton Lodge in Salisbury, and the items will be given to residents living with dementia both there and at Bartlett House.

The beautifully sewn twiddlemat in particular was a great hit

Karen said: ‘A very big thank you for bringing along the Twiddle Muffs and blanket that your Soroptimist group have been making.  They are all delightful and we are so grateful to you for choosing our organisation to receive the benefit of this amazing project of yours.

We have left half the Twiddle Muffs and the beautiful blanket at Bemerton Lodge where the home will distribute them amongst those residents living with a dementia.  Linda is visiting Bartlett House in Ludgershall tomorrow and will be taking the other half with her for the residents there. ‘

And the message to SI Salisbury members and their supporters is: ‘keep knitting, sewing and crocheting!’
