The History of SI Salisbury

SI Salisbury was officially chartered on Saturday 3 August 2019 by Federation President Sue Williams in a lovely ceremony in the Cloisters of Salisbury Cathedral.

We were delighted to welcome friends, families, local supporters and sister Soroptimists from 24 Clubs of the Federation. We were also pleased to be welcomed to the City of Salisbury by the Mayor and Mayoress of the City.

Regional President Barbara Watts welcomed the new Club to the Region of Southern England and Past International President Ann Garvie added her welcome to the new members telling them to ‘dream it and be it!’

Following the charter ceremony, members of the new Club led by members of the Kate Edgar Singers sang ‘Twentyfirst Century Woman’ by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange

We were delighted to be supported by generous sponsorship from local businesswomen Mandy Baggot, Janet Pegrum from Neal’s Yard Herbal Remedies, Sarum Physiotherapy and Adding Zest.

The club is now part of a worldwide organisation: Soroptimist International and will be linked to a network of some 90,000 women working together across 123 countries to educate, empower and enable women and girls to achieve their full potential.
