Southend Soroptimists work hard at local projects. Each year our President nominates a local charity for us to support and this year, we’re supporting Age Concern Southend. They are a small, independent charity providing support, advice and services to older people in Southend and the surrounding communities.
Two members of our club represent us at the Southend Against Modern Slavery (SAMS) Partnership meetings. It is a community partnership including local charities, faith organisations and the voluntary sector. We work with local law enforcement and statutory bodies towards ending exploitation and human trafficking.
Our members have completed 2 courses with SAMS. One of these is Train the Trainer and they can now give presentations on Modern Day Slavery (MDS) to other groups on behalf of SAMS.
