On 25th October Grange Soroptimists replanted a Paul’s Crimson Hawthorn tree which had been vandalised. We originally planted in a tree in 2021 and placed a plaque near the library to mark the Centenary of Soroptimist International. A Paul’s Crimson Hawthorn tree was chosen primarily because hawthorns are excellent, if not the best species for carbon capture. Secondly it will provide all year round interest from the deep pink blossom in May and the red haws and yellow leaves in Autumn/ wintertime.

Pictured are some of the Soroptimists plus Alan Geddes who planted it for us and Mike Halsall ( Grange Shed) who kindly installed the guard to protect the tree and the plaque.
