Mell was our President for two years, much of that during lockdowns due to Covid. There was a meeting at Newnham College, Cambridge in November 2019, followed by Zoom meetings until we got together in person for our Regions’s 50th anniversary in August 2021 followed by another meeting in September. No matter what the means of meeting, Mell inspired us, listened and steered us. As most of our Clubs in this Region were also meeting monthly on Zoom, Mell was able to join each at some stage.
We met on 20th November 2021 at Newnham and Mell handed over the Regalia (bling!) to incoming President Sharon Richardson. SI Southend. She also gave a beautiful brooch to Regional Secretary Pat Dowding for their collaboration during her tenure. Note: we are all wearing a touch of ‘Orange’ in recognition of the UN Day of Eliminating Violence Against Women with its 16 Days of Activism.
