SI Newcastle Upon Tyne Charter Lunch – 23rd November Copthorne Hotel Newcastle
Well what a start to the morning of our Charter Lunch, Storm Bert had an effect on our numbers but not on our willingness and determination to make the lunch a huge success.
Most of the Charter Lunch team arrived in their snow boots and winter clothes. After setting the tables for 7 members and guests by 11 o’clock we had about 11 cancellations so we had to set about redoing the table plans and taking settings away all in time for guests arriving at 12 midday.
We did it of course and even had time to get changed into our lovely outfits.
The table decorations were fabulous and echoed our speaker’s theme of Angels. Everyone admired our centrepieces. The name cards and menus also had an angel on them.
Most tables ended up with about 4 or 5 guests on them, however everyone had a great afternoon with a wonderful atmosphere. You could hear the chatting and laughter around the room.
Our speaker Baroness Joyce Quin gave us an inspirational talk into some of the wonderful women in her new book. ‘Angels of the North 2’
The food was delicious and the service excellent at the Copthorne Hotel.
A big thank you to all members, toast makers, and guests who were able to brave Storm Bert for making it a wonderful afternoon.
