Coffee from Tree to Cup: Colin Smith, a local coffee roaster and supplier treated Club Members and guests to a fascinating evening all about coffee including delicious samples to taste.
Colin showed some wonderful photographs from his trips around the world visiting growers and processors where the coffee comes from before it is roasted, ground and packed in Apsley www.smithscoffee.co.uk Colin also brought examples of coffee making equipment from the company’s “museum” plus lots of different sacks that the coffee arrives in – all with their own designs.
Colin’s company, Smith’s Coffee, supplies Fairtrade coffee to the Tea Bar at St Albans Magistrates court – the Tea Bar is run by Soroptimist Club Member Jean Eaton with a team of helpers and all profits go to Rennie Grove Hospice Care in St Albans.
Colin’s talk raised £85 in donated “gate money” and profit from coffee sales which will go to another great local charity – the Hospice of St Francis
