The UN2020 campaign the International Day of Multilateralism

We are inviting you to celebrate

Send a unified message to our leaders on the critical need to revitalize our global governance system during and beyond the UN’s 75th Anniversary. We are pleased to share with you the guidelines for the upcoming “International Day of Multilateralism” 7 DAY COUNTDOWN Campaign starting Saturday, 18th April until Friday, 24th April 2020. This is YOUR campaign so be fierce, unapologetically bold, and have fun sharing those messages and tagging your leaders.  Please note that all the content designed for each day of this campaign is uploaded on the following platforms (note: the content will be updated daily):

Below you will find a detailed explanation of the campaign objectives and structure. 

CAMPAIGN BRIEF
This is a 7-day campaign with a two part theme : ‘Why Multilateralism Matters’ and ‘Make UN75 Count’ which are intertwined together and end with a big celebration on the International Day of Multilateralism.
Theme 1: Why #multilateralismmatters?
This is where we explain the “Why” and the urgent importance and need for multilateralism by highlighting different global issues that warrant a global governance reform process and strengthened international cooperation.  Each day we will highlight one or two issues using the messaging provided and sharing different articles on the related issue. This will be accompanied with a #multilateralismmatters video.

Day 1 (April 18): Global Pandemic
• Day 2 (April 19): Global Economy / Inequality
• Day 3 (April 20): Rise of Nationalism
• Day 4 (April 21): Migration
• Day 5 (April 22): Peace & Security
• Day 6 (April 23): Climate Change
• Day 7 (April 24): International Day of Multilateralism
The call to action is for individuals/organizations to post a 30-60 second video of why multilateralism matters to them. Be sure to tag _@UN2020_ on Twitter /Instagram & @ UN 2020 on Facebook with the hashtags #multilateralismmatters #makeUN75count #UN2020
Theme 2: #MAKEUN75COUNT
This is where we urge our governments to use the UN 75th anniversary as a catalyst for an intergovernmental process to advance global governance reform and innovation. Here is where we will highlight the “HOW” by offering them our collective recommendations for strengthening the UN and the broader global governance system.  TIMELINE for #makeUN75count

• Day 2 (April 19) – Gender Equality
• Day 3 (April 20) – Global Governance Innovation
• Day 4 (April 21) – People Centered UN
• Day 5 (April 22) – Sustainable Peace
• Day 6 (April 23) – Sustainable Development Goals
• Day 7 (April 24) – International Day of Multilateralism
The call to action is for individuals/organisations to repost/share the posts that UN2020 produces and tag UN Ambassadors, UN missions, your country’s Foreign Minister, the UN Secretary-General, and the President of the General Assembly by asking them to make UN75 count. Finale – International Day of Multilateralism
On the 24th we would like to end on a high note with a celebration. On this day we are hoping to release a video on “The Future We Want the UN We Need”, a short creative video looking at the future through the eyes of the future (a child). We would also like to launch registrations for the People’s Forum, a virtual event where we present the PGA with the civil society declaration.
