2008 saw the Club support another young woman, Kelly Corcoran, on the path to a career as a Conductor, when President Debbie handed the then Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Conductor Marin Alsop a cheque for £900. We applaud Marin and the Orchestra on this ground breaking scheme to help a woman enter into a male dominated profession, and look forwards to future fundraisers. We enjoyed considerable support at these both from both the Orchestra and members of The Friends of the BSO. The events were attended by Marin herself who managed to fit this into her schedule, taking the opportunity to speak about her work.
