A busy weekend for nine Club members as we got up early on Sunday morning to help marshal the well renowned Two Castles 10k race. Some of us have run it and we know how much the 6,000 participants appreciate how our marshalling keeps them safe from traffic, and our cheers of encouragement as they go past. This way please! We’ll happily show you which way you can go whilst the race is on
Thanks to the amazing plug plants courtesy Andrea and Bordon Nurseries, and a brilliant turnout by Club members we sold over 7,000 plants to the general public and raised over £630 towards HOOP and our Well Being fund for the Womens Refuge. Thank you to the Kenilworth Lions for organising such a successful family event, and booking fine weather this year! Anyone for plug plants?!! Service with a smile 🙂
We teamed up with Kenilworth Lions to help us with Joan’s garden. She loves her little patch and was very sad when her wooden table collapsed. Thankfully Lions came to our rescue and kindly donated a very smart outdoor table for her to use when potting up her plants, A great example of two local organisations working together to support their local community. As it was Joan’s birthday the next day, we also took her a cake!

Andrea made everyone very welcome to gracious living in her new home. A happy time was had by all. Tasty refreshments were much appreciated. Proceeds from plug plant sales will go to the Women’s Refuge Wellbeing Fund.
We were delighted to hear a talk from Bethany Ellis, a Warwickshire Sea Scout talk to us about the rigorous application and selection process she has recently undertaken to secure a place at The World Scout Jamboree being held in Virginia USA in 2019. Bethany has joined Units 84 & 85 from Warwickshire’s successful applicants. We wish Bethany all the best in her future fundraising activities especially walking on hot coals!
Outgoing President Sharon happily hands over the regalia to incoming President Anita
Our new President started her year in top gear by taking part in the Women vs Cancer Ride the Night event. She and her team cycled 100k, that’s over 60 miles to you and me, and raised over £5,000 to raise funds to women’s cancers. This is even more amazing as Anita had only arrived back from New Zealand the day before! What a way to get over jet lag 🙂
