SI Kenilworth & District held a Christmas Coffee Morning on 26th November to raise funds for the charity Friends of Sick Children in Malawi.    Members and their friends and neighbours were in a festive mood as they browsed the stalls, whilst enjoying a cup of coffee or tea and a biscuit.  There was a chance to try your luck at the Tombola, Treasure Hunt, Guess the Sweets in a Jar and Guess the Name of the Teddy stalls. Talented members had been busy making and baking and there was plenty of opportunity for Christmas shopping, with handicrafts, baked goods, greetings cards, jams & chutneys, wooden Christmas tree decorations and poinsettias & cyclamen on offer. Hill Close Gardens Performance of “The Tempest”

Hill Close Gardens Performance of “The Tempest”

On the thankfully dry evening of 26th July, a small group from Kenilworth Soroptimists Club went along to Hill Close Gardens in Warwick to be entertained by Heartbreak Productions. A local, very talented ensemble of six actors/ musicians treated us to an outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. There was much changing of costumes and character, impromptu pouncing on unsuspecting members of the audience to join in with a joke or song, and a great atmosphere overall. We “Groundlings” picnicked before the main performance but were entertained throughout. We were able to stay comfortably amid our goodies and glasses of wine, and sit back to take it all in. Several of us were already familiar with this Leamington based company but I think those who came to it for the first time were pleasantly surprised. I know I will be keen to do this again
