11th – 17th May is National Vegetarian Week 2020, it’s all about enjoying delicious, plant-based food. It’s an unusual time at the moment, but it’s also a chance to have a go at something new and enjoy cooking at home. Why is National Vegetarian Week important? Like many Soroptimists, Lichfield & District Club is keen to do all it can to preserve and nurture our environment. One issue discussed in our Planet sub group was the decline in the number of pollinating insects and ways in which we might help to reverse this trend in our local area. We’re blessed with excellent Club gardeners who quickly began to think of ways to deliver on this. Not only to help our pollinating insects but also support the well-being and mental health of people in general. #Soroptimistsvolunteer

This Lichfield & District Soroptimist member from Rugeley had no time to sit and enjoy the sun … She’s too busy out shopping for 8 vulnerable members of the community. Many other ladies in the group are also busy supporting in various ways around the district adapting to the current situation. From shopping for the vulnerable to making PPE equipment for locals hospitals, hospices and care facilities.
