For more than 25 years,  every year, Newcastle Soroptimists have collected toiletries, sweets and clothing to be packed into 25 Christmas bags for homeless women supported by the Joseph Cowan Health Centre.  As you will see below, this year has been no exception when bags were delivered yesterday.  We think everyone will enjoy this year’s bags which have extra special contents.

SI Newcastle Upon Tyne Charter Lunch –  23rd November Copthorne Hotel Newcastle Well what a start to the morning of our Charter Lunch, Storm Bert had an effect on our numbers but not on our willingness and determination to make the lunch a huge success. Most of the Charter Lunch  team arrived in their snow boots and winter clothes. After setting the tables for 7 members and guests  by 11 o’clock we had about 11 cancellations so we had to set about redoing the table plans and taking settings away all in time for guests arriving at 12 midday. We did it of course and even had time to get changed into our lovely outfits. The table decorations were fabulous and echoed our speaker’s theme of Angels. Everyone admired our centrepieces. Congratulations to President Pam

Over the last year, we operated without a president and members took turns to chair meetings and with the use of WhatsApp we were able to communicate efficiently and effectively in terms of decision making.   However, last week at our Annual General Meeting we were delighted to welcome President Pam who was installed as the Club President for 2024 -25. There was a slight delay in handing over the chain of office, but former Presidents Chris and Christine formerly handed it over to President Pam a couple of days later.
