SIGBI Conference Report 2024

Feeling inspired and grateful after an amazing experience of connecting with so many passionate and like-minded women from across our Federation. The SIGBI Conference 2024 was a powerful reminder of the incredible work Soroptimist Clubs are doing—from impactful environmental projects to community-driven initiatives. One of the highlights was witnessing the shortlisted projects for the Best Practice Awards. A special shoutout to SI Poole for winning the delegates’ prize for their brilliant “Fresh Thoughts” project! Huge thanks to Caroline for sharing insights on this at our recent Club meeting.

The lineup of speakers was equally inspiring! Baroness Floella Benjamin moved us with her life story. Ann Beatty from the Steve Sinnott Foundation shared invaluable insights, and panel discussions reinforced the transformative power of mentoring. Presentations from SI Europe and SI Africa further showcased the impressive work of our Soroptimist sisters worldwide.

Here are some key takeaways:

  • Reconnecting in person fostered a renewed sense of community, old friendships and new connections.
  • Poster displays highlighted innovative projects from other Clubs, sparking ideas for our own work.
  • Speaker sessions delivered fresh insights and motivation.
  • Hearing from International President Siew Yong enriched our understanding of Soroptimist impact globally.

And last but not least, we were overjoyed to see Pat C honoured by SIGBI for her immense contributions to the Federation and Soroptimist International! Congratulations, Pat—your recognition is so well-deserved  and we couldn’t be prouder of you!
