Why Soroptimist? Membership Month 2017

130-SISTAWhySoroptimist2017At our May meeting about reducing our carbon footprint www.sigbi.org/st-albans/carbon/ Members donned their “Ask me why I’m a Soroptimist” T Shirts as part of the Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) #WhySoroptimist ? campaign. (pictured her l to r are Denise Powell, Jane Slatter, Sally Bear with Janet Tansley, Helen Byrne, Ameeta Sabharwal and Pamela Rochford).

Answers to the “Why Soroptimist?” question are many and varied – we all want to make a difference to the lives of women and girls and we all get a lot of support from the friendships we have developed with one another. With project evenings like the one this May on the environment and last year on giving birth in prisions, we are proud that as Soroptimists we are not afraid to tackle difficult and unpopular issues.
