Club Marks 62nd Birthday at AGM

Members of Soroptimist International St Albans and District enjoyed a lively Annual General Meeting in April. The AGM marked the end of the Club’s 62nd year, and the start of the Club’s 63rd year. The event was a celebration of President Linda’s excellent year and a look forward to a new year with the latest Club President Katherine Clark (Katherine is pictured here in the Club’s regalia).

All the Officers of the Club gave their reports which can be found in the Members’ Area of this website, Linda went through the busy Club year  – as an aide-memoir just scroll down through the Club News on this website. Our new President Katherine addressed the Club as President for the first time – please see Katherine’s message on this web page: www.sigbi.org/st-albans/president

The Club was sorry to say goodbye to Christine Farringdon who has decided to retire having been a Club Member for 10 years. Jean Eaton presented Christine with a personalised photo card of memories (see photo)

After this Jean herself was presented with a framed photo montage to thank her for her many many years as Club Treasurer, the role she has now handed over to Sarah Lichman.

We were delighted that SI London Chilterns Region Officers Margaret Badley and Lynda Smith were able to join us for this special occasion. The following day we received this lovely message from Margaret “Thank you all for making us so welcome last night. It was both interesting and valuable to see your Club in action, have access to your reports and chat to Club Members. It epitomised the real value of visiting Clubs as part of the Regional structure. I would like to wish your incoming Executive, your Club as a whole and Denise in particular (Ed – because she is Region President-Elect), all the best for the next Soroptimist year.”

Linda was presented with her Past President’s badge and a framed montage of photographs of her year as President as a memento and thank you gift. Linda’s last job as President was to help Katherine put on the Club’s regalia – as you can see it doesn’t get any easier and needed Barbara to help too!

The last photo is of our well travelled Club mascot Sally Bear who is planning quite a few adventures for the year ahead – she now has her own regalia, made by our new President Katherine, as well as a passport so she is well prepared!
