It is always a great Club evening when it is our pleasure to welcome new Members. The 11 Feb was twice as good because Pauline Swindells and Ann Beatty both joined the Club at the same time!
Pictured here (l to r) are Club Officer Denise Powell, Pauline Swindells, Membership Officer Amanda Brown and Ann Beatty – we hope Pauline and Ann will enjoy their Membership and know that they have a lot to offer to the Club and the wider Soroptimist community. Pauline has a lot of experience working with victims of domestic abuse, and Ann is the CEO of the Steve Sinnott foundation.
At the same meeting Club Members approved the proposals for end of year donations to various charities. These charities included Electric Umbrella which was explained on the night – it is “A collaboration of professional musicians and adults with learning disabilities; writing, experiencing and performing music at small pubs, big festivals, live radio and everything in between. We believe in a world where there is no ‘us and them’, and are on a mission to challenge people to think differently about learning disabilities. ”
We also gave the go ahead for the Club to support a microfinance project with Lend with Care
