The St Albans Soroptimists organised an event for Louise Caplin to demonstrate her ‘Spice Way’ of Life for 45 people online on Zoom on Monday 13th July – and it was “souper”!
Louise took us on a live creative cookery adventure using the power of herbs and spices to enhance health and well being.
Louise is pictured above getting set up for the demo with her husband, and sous chef for the evening, Adam. Louise is also on the top line of the Zoom group screen shot below. There were 45 people and you can see the group giving a thumbs up for Louise here! Louise would normally run demonstrations for smaller groups in the Spice Way shop so this was a first and we were all delighted by how well it went!
The menu for the evening was – gazpacho, frittata, noodles with aubergine, fattoush salad, dips and for dessert fruit granola with yoghurt and carrot cake – what a feast – it was a pity we couldn’t eat it (or smell it!). Please download the Recipe Menu by clicking on this link SPICE WAY RECIPE MENU SOROPTIMIST MASTERCLASS July 2020 Louise did a brilliant job in demonstrating all of that in just one hour!
Louise explained that natural herb and spice blends increase the flavour and sensory experience of eating. They are the perfect supplement to today’s busy lifestyles providing natural remedies that heal our bodies. Information about how the company was started and the products on sale, online and in-store, are all on the website www.spicewayuk.com The shop is at Battlers Green Farm shopping village, Radlett, WD7 8PH
There was plenty of interaction with great questions and answers – which made the event seem more normal and quite relaxed. Here is some of the great feedback from the online chat: “Excellent, thank you – definitely going to try some out!” “Thank you- really enjoyable” “Thank you Louise – the food looked and sounded delicious.” “I shall definitely be looking at your website! Thank you.” “Really enjoyable and interesting demo. well done for fitting so much in. Thank you.” “Thankyou I will have a go at these recipes” “Thanks you SI St Albans & District – excellent event!” “Thank you for everything and I am interested!” “I have really enjoyed being part of this group.”
Thanks to attendees generous donations the event raised £120 for Louise’s nominated charity the Haematology Cancer Care Unit, University College London Hospitals (UCLH)
Of the 45 participants at the Zoom event about half were Soroptimists and it was wonderful for us to welcome so many guests so that they can find out more about us. The Soroptimists were not just from the St Albans Club, they were from the Soroptimist London Chilterns Region, further afield in the UK and as far away as Chico in California. Sharing events and connecting with people around the world is part of the power of online events – something we have learnt as #SoroptimistsinLockdown
#SoroptimistsinLockdown This event is the last in a series of three events organised by Soroptimist International St Albans and District focused on wellbeing. As we come through the COVID-19 crisis it is really important that we all stay as well as we can, so that we can enjoy our lives to the full when we move into the new normal…
