Soroptimist Club Finalist St Albans Mayors Pride Award for Orange the World Community Project

Soroptimist International St Albans and District Club Members are proud to announce that the Club was a finalist in the St Albans Mayor’s Pride Award 2022 for Community Project  St Albans Mayors Pride 22 Mayoress and Mayor with Soroptimists Louise Marron, Barbara Saundersof the Year. The award is given to recognise a project undertaken by an organisation, group or individual that has identified and met a local need. The first picture is of Louise Marron (2nd from left) and Barbara Saunders (1st on right) with Mayor of St Albans City and District, Councillor Edgar Hill and the Mayoress, Caroline Jane Lee.

The other finalists were Passport to Leisure and the worthy winners St Albans Postboxes.

The second photo is of Louise Marron holding the award with St Albans Soroptimist Club President Barbara Saunders OBE. Louise was the power behind the Orange The World project.

This prestigious event was held at St Michael’s Manor.

The St Albans Soroptimists will be busy turning the world orange again this year between 25 November – 10 December with buildings all over Hertfordshire lighting up orange and people wearing orange raise awareness of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence. It is a call to action and to raise awareness at a local, national, and international level about violence against women and girls.
