This year, Swansea Soroptimists were beach cleaning at 10am on Saturday 21st Sept at their usual patch at Blackpill. Come for an hour next year and help get rid of all the detritus left and washed up on our beautiful beach during the Summer. Equipment provided by the Marine Conservation Society. Year 6 pupils from St Helen’s School, Swansea, asked interesting questions when several Swansea Soroptimists talked about their careers in Medicine, Nursing, Teaching, Computing (IT) and Voluntary work in not-for-profit Businesses and Local Government. The pupils had 1 week of talks from different professions (and not all Soroptimists!) to give the pupils information on accessing different work and life choices. The Soroptimists continue to listen weekly to pupils reading and discussing the  books and their themes. We look forward to helping other Year 6 pupils, both girls and boys.

Reading is important to all ages to widen horizons, learn new things and to stimulate the imagination. President Amanda Rees shares books with the children of St Helen’s School and fellow Soroptimists Sandra Pengelly and Angela Ball. The Swansea club presented a cheque to Headmaster, Mr Thompson to buy more new books.
