THE president of Soroptimist International
Mansfield and District completed her successful
year in office as the club welcomed her
successor and a new member at the annual
meeting. Kam Britland relinquished her presidential
role after an eventful year. At the AGM, Kam welcomed new member
Kath Whittingham, the former head of
democratic service of a local authority, and new
president Sue Manchester.
Some of the initiatives during Kam’s year in
office were:
- Raising more than £2,000 for mental health
and Mercy Malaysia charities. - Hosting the March Regional Meeting and
receiving positive comments. - Bringing new members to the club.
- Participating at a service to mark the
centenary of the end of the first world war,
laying a wreath at the Mansfield Civic
Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday. - Buying an official roof slate with the
club’s name inscribed after a summer trip
to Wentworth Woodhouse to help with the
preservation of the grand house in South
Yorkshire.
Kam continued to support and
undertake some of our planned initiatives.
What a triumph! The success exceeded
her expectations, despite her personal
circumstances. She said afterwards “I am truly grateful for
the support and friendships throughout.
Kam introduced the new president Sue Manchester at the AGM.
Sue’s theme for her year was
‘Women who have achieved in what was a
man’s world.’
