S.I. Midland East Region

Kam Britland SI Midland East Region President 2020 – 2021 and 2022 – 2023

My own theme reflected the first year in office as Region President ‘Celebrating our work and valuing our environment’ for the centenary celebrations.  A number of positive feedback and comments received on both fronts, were overwhelming and exceeded my expectations for the funds raised at region from the two projects. The 1st ever Region calendar and recipe book – all done during lock down.  We managed to contribute £1,200 to for the Diamond Education Fund, including £1,000 for our S.I.President’s Appeal -“Opening Doors to a  Bright Future”.  A further £250 for SI Benevolent fund and £500 for other SI supported charities.

Effectively, the COVID outbreak had forced us to reappraise how we meet. I know going forward that meetings may be in hybrid formats with some face to face and some on zoom as we embrace this change.

Four visions during my year in office were:-

  • To celebrate the centenary of Soroptimist International
  • To raise the profile of Soroptimists
  • To engage with local, national and international efforts via UK P.A. committee
  • To work collaboratively and foster good relations with each of the 12 regional clubs

The theme for my second year in office is  “WORKING TOGETHER FOR OUR SUCCESS”

Our Midland East Region has been focusing on Memberships, Friendships and Programme Action.

I look to the future and believe the region has prospered and all members will continue to support our organisation going forward. Here’s to the next 100 years!
