Three Clubs Meeting, February 2018

South Lancs Regional President Margaret with President Janet (Southport). President Chris (Bootle) and President Annette (Crosby)

For many years, the three SI clubs in Sefton – SI Bootle, SI Crosby and SI Southport  – have met for a fun social evening. This is a great opportunity for us to get together in an informal environment to talk about our clubs, renew friendships and make new friends from all three clubs. The evening is hosted by each of the clubs in turn and this year it was Southport’s turn.

President Janet decided to have a 60s evening. Emmanuel Church Hall was turned into a dance hall of the 1960s, full of peace and love. Party finger food, including stuffed celery, sausage rolls, grapefruit ‘hedgehogs’ with cheese, onion & pickles and ‘naughty-but-nice’ trifles  were lovingly prepared by our members, together with a fruit punch to quench our thirst.

Everyone was invited to come in ‘60s fashion and many members really threw themselves into the spirit. Jenny Stanistreet from SI Crosby took the prize for the best costume  – the prize? A bottle of Mateus Rose and a small bottle of Babysham!

Following a quiz covering the decade and a dancing lesson (who can do the ‘Locomotion’? ), we danced the night away to the wonderful sounds of the 1960s.
