One of SI’s Programme Focus Goals is ‘Food Security and Health’. Here in SI Southport we are passionate about ensuring that all women and girls have access to information, help and advice on health matters that concern them. We have run campaigns to eradicate Breast Cancer and more recently Ovarian Cancer. To gain publicity and raise awareness of the latter we gathered on the Millenium Bridge in Southport on World Women’s Day. We briefly felt like ‘models’ as the local paparazzi snapped away!
We also had a stand in Tesco to give out information and have circulated leaflets to places where women attend. We also participated in a Health Awareness Day with the Rotary Clubs of Southport. Here we helped to man the Target Ovarian Cancer Charity stand.
