Every year the UN holds 16 days of activism to campaign against gender-based violence, from 25 November to 10 December. The campaign’s signature colour is orange, which represents a brighter future, free from violence.
This year SI Surrey Hills worked with business partners in Godalming and the local council to turn the town orange and raise awareness of the issue of violence against women and girls. Shops and cafes in the town turned their windows orange, orange flags were flown and a bright orange light shone out from the Pepperpot in the High Street. We supported this event with social media posts and local publicity, and had many interesting conversations with local people keen to know more about the campaign.
Our huge thanks and appreciation to all who took part.
