Who Are We?
Sincerity of Friendship, Joy of Achievement and Respect for All, are the pillars of Soroptimist International Esperance, an international women’s service club.
The genesis of our club is unique — we were all Soroptimists, transitioned into being Soroptimist Associates answering to headquarters in England, we became The Proposed Soroptimist Club Esperance and now we are chartered. We have a wealth of experience in past National Presidents, Club Presidents, Programme Action Officers, Communication Officers, Secretaries, Treasurers, Fund-raising Chairpersons as well as young dynamic women full of energy and passion. This blend of maturity and effervescent youth, results in a very special brand for Soroptimist International Esperance.
This recently chartered club consists of women with varied perspectives, diverse backgrounds and different experiences, where support, encouragement, comfort, enthusiasm, creativity, fun and friendship abound. We awaken curiosity, challenge our intellect and imagination, and encourage openness to new inspiring ideas, alternatives and creative disruption. These elements are essential to pulling in the emerging generations to develop new ways to address our traditional issues and so ensure club success, succession planning and retention of membership. We may be the newest club, but we bring with us 172 years of service as Soroptimists.
‘Esperance’ is French for Hope, and by Educating, Empowering and Enabling opportunities through Service, we will bring ‘Esperance’ to women and girls in rural areas.
