The colour theme for this years Soroptimist International of Bingley’s Christmas Tree is blue and yellow to mark 70 years of the clubs existence with some orange to highlight the need to eradicate Gender-Based Violence.
Soroptimist International is a worldwide organisation of women who want to build a better world for women and girls. The tree shows women joined together in a garland and identifies projects carried out over decades and the struggle women have faced in the past and present day. Soroptimist’s make a difference to the lives of more than half a million women and girls every year.
Orange represents a time when women ‘Orange the World’ to remind us of the range of violent situations women and girls might face. No matter where violence against women and girls happens, what form it takes, and whom it impacts, it must be stopped.
