In order to mark the SIGBI Day of Action, in July, Bingley Soroptimists had a display in Asda, Shipley highlighting the issues of period poverty.
Period poverty affects the lives of women and girls internationally, nationally and locally. Research shows that 1 in 9 girls miss educational opportunities because of period poverty and it’s becoming an increasing issue for homeless women.
Over 300 sanitary products were donated by Asda customers and over £200 donated. So far we have distributed products to Keighley’s Women’s refuge, the Together Women Project, Bingley community Kitchen, Bingley food bank and BISAN.
