Wow! 63 members joined the Change of Insignia virtual Meeting and Project Glass House presentation via Zoom on 14th November 2020. The meeting opened at 9.30 allowing 30 minutes for networking and chatting before the Project Glass House presentation started at 10am. What a clever idea this 30 minutes networking is.
Thanks go to Pam, Louise and the regional team for brilliantly delivering the Change of Insignia – a great start to Louise’s year as President.
I’ve been doing a lot of reminiscing recently, as no doubt have you, and Louise’s theme “Looking Back, Moving Forward” should be an aspiration to all clubs to look at their past successes and to celebrate them and use them to achieve even more.
Who would have thought that 9 months ago we would have had to embrace this technology? If we’re lucky we have an IT savvy son or daughter, partner or even better, a grandchild who can tell us quickly how to mute, unmute and start video! What about those of our members who don’t have any help? How can we assist them to participate in these virtual meetings?
Are there ideas that we can carry forward from these virtual meetings? Maybe at our next “in person” regional meeting we could also transmit via Zoom so that those who are unable to attend in person can still enjoy the meeting and speakers.
Our next meeting will be 13th February 2021. This will be a virtual meeting. If you haven’t already been able to take part why not think about contacting someone in your club to help you because it’s good fun and you’re in the comfort of your own home, have access to free tea and coffee and no worries about parking at the meeting venue!
I look forward to seeing as many members as possible at our next meeting and if I’m still in my dressing gown, fall asleep or forget to mute, don’t worry, it’s all about taking part.
